Denisse Oleas-Arancibia was found by a hotel maid in her room at the SoHo 54 Hotel around 10:30 am on Thursday. The scene was harrowing, with signs of a struggle evident as a bloody iron lay beside her. Her body, bearing evidence of both beatings and strangulation, was found concealed under a blanket by a hotel maid on February 8th. Oleas-Arancibia, who resided in Jackson Heights, had been residing in the hotel for an extended period before the dreadful discovery was made. No individuals have been arrested yet, according to the New York Police Department regarding this case.
Cause of death
According to a representative from the NYC Office of Chief Medical Examiner, the cause of her death was determined to be homicide. The examination concluded that she suffered from neck compression and blunt force trauma.

Edwin Cevallos, 18, the son of Oleas-Arancibia, recounted how his mother seemed troubled in the days leading up to her tragic demise. “She was acting differently, sad and anxious,” he recalled. “It’s just so unbelievable. I’m still trying to process it all. Being here in New York, everything around me reminds me of her.” Cevallos emphasized his mother’s tireless dedication to providing a better life for their family in this country, highlighting her hard work and sacrifices.
