A 60-year-old man has been taken into custody on suspicion of the murder of a gun dealer Patrick O’Mahony who was found dead outside his home in Castlemaine, Co Kerry on Sunday morning. He is being held at a County Kerry Garda Station under section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

An 80-year-old man’s body was discovered by the police after they were called to a house in the Castlemaine area. He was transferred to University Hospital Kerry’s mortuary after being pronounced dead on the spot. According to reports, the police haven’t ruled out the idea that the death was an accident. Still, they’re holding off on making decisions until after the post-mortem examination.

The scene is being left undisturbed so that specialists can conduct forensic and technical inspections. A Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) has been placed in charge of the incident and a separate room has been established at Tralee Garda Station. With the family, a Garda Family Liaison Officer (FLO) is collaborating closely. Further details will be released later; the inquiry is still ongoing.
