A young motorcycle rider was killed in an unfortunate incident during the Central Coast Cup. Amelia Kotze, a 15-year-old participant, suffered serious injuries during a race at the Central Coast Junior Motorcycle Club in Somersby on Saturday. Despite medical efforts, Amelia died in the hospital on Tuesday. A 14-year-old boy also involved in the crash sustained minor injuries but did not require medical attention.
The Incident
The accident occurred at the Allen Park racetrack in Somersby, near Gosford, around 2 pm. Emergency services, including NSW Ambulance and the Careflight helicopter, arrived swiftly on the site. Amelia was immediately treated before being evacuated to Westmead Children’s Hospital in critical condition. She was admitted to the intensive care unit but succumbed to her injuries after a valiant fight.
