Glenview, a vibrant town in the heart of Illinois, was adversely affected by the sudden passing of one of its own. Bright 17-year-old Marko Niketic was killed in an unfortunate automobile accident that shocked the neighborhood on Sunday night, May 12.
At approximately 11 p.m., Glenview was disrupted when two cars crashed heavily on Lake Avenue close to Meadow Lane. Among those involved in the crash was Marko Niketic. One of the cars was torn in two by the impact of the crash, which left a terrifying trail of devastation in its wake. Marko, a resident of the 1800 block of Ridgewood Lane in Glenview, was pronounced dead at the scene by authorities from the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Tragedy Unfolds
Two cars were involved in the collision: a white Mercedes Benz and a blue Ford Mustang, both of which sustained heavy damages. The driver of the other vehicle suffered non-life-threatening injuries and has been hospitalized, while the passengers from both vehicles are in critical condition and receiving medical treatment at nearby hospitals.
The accident’s circumstances are being thoroughly investigated by Glenview police and the Major Crash Assistance Team of the North Regional Major Crimes Task Force (NORTAF). Lake Avenue between Waukegan and Wagner roads remained closed for several hours due to the ongoing investigation, highlighting the seriousness of the incident and the need for closure for all affected parties.
