Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the age of only 27, Meghan Payne, a cherished server at Granite City Food & Brewery, passed away unexpectedly. Sioux Falls, South Dakota, is experiencing a deep sense of loss after the tragic departure of one of its beloved members. Her mother, in a heartfelt Facebook post, shared the heartbreaking news, writing, “Heaven gained another sweet angel too soon. Grandma was the first to meet Meghan when she was born, and Meghan was the first to meet Grandma in Heaven. Love you both. Until we meet again.”

Before her journey to the heavens, Meghan made the selfless decision to donate her organs, ensuring that her legacy would continue through the lives she would save. Cause of Death
Meghan experienced a seizure followed by cardiac arrest on the morning of Saturday, March 30. Michael, her partner, reacted swiftly, administering CPR and dialing for an ambulance, desperately trying to save her life. Paramedics arrived promptly, managing to restore her pulse, but Meghan remained unconscious throughout the ordeal. Rushed to Avera McKennan Hospital, she received immediate medical attention. However, the battle for her life ended on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at 12:45 pm.
Early Life
Meghan was someone who truly cared about her community and loved working in the hospitality industry. After graduating from the University of South Dakota, she dove into her career with a passion for making people feel special. Her journey took her to 212 The Boiling Point, where she became known for her leadership and dedication to making customers happy.
Meghan began working as a server at Granite City Food & Brewery in February 2023, where she continued bringing happiness and warmth to everyone she met. She gained both coworkers and the Sioux Falls community at large with her friendly nature. Meghan was a valued member of the team and the community because of her dedication to quality work and her ability to put others at ease.

In response to Meghan’s unexpected sickness and death, Katie Riley created a GoFundMe page to raise funds for Meghan’s family member Michael Payne. The crowdsourcing campaign aims to lessen Meghan’s medical bills and show the community’s support for the Payne family at this difficult time.
