The Manchester High School community is grieving the loss of one of its own, Daryus Bryant, as confirmed by Meriwether County Schools on Sunday. Bryant, a student known for his achievements both in sports and academics, passed away in the Crystal Drive shooting.
Officers responded to a report of “shots fired” on Macon Road on Saturday, according to a Columbus, Georgia, police report. Upon arrival, they discovered two vehicles with bullet holes and two individuals suffering from gunshot wounds. After being taken to the hospital right after, Bryant succumbed to his injuries and was declared dead. The other victim, identified as Clarence Flavors, underwent emergency surgery, according to the report.
The school district, in a Facebook post, expressed its commitment to supporting each other during this difficult time.
