Sunday morning, May 12, 2024, a 16-year-old kid was killed by gunfire at a massive home party in Northborough, Massachusetts. The victim, Ygor Correia from Bellingham, was attending a celebration on Howard Street when the incident took place.
The party was held to celebrate a woman’s 21st birthday. Around 1 a.m., Northborough police were informed of the presence of a firearm at the event. Responding to the call, an officer sought backup, which resulted in almost twenty officers arriving on the scene. As they approached, they heard gunfire.
Upon arrival, police discovered that two teenagers had been shot. Officers carried Ygor Correia down the hill to an ambulance. Despite their efforts, he was pronounced dead at the UMass Memorial Medical Center. A 17-year-old was also shot and taken to Marlborough Hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Additionally, two other partygoers were injured during the brawl but refused medical attention.
Arrests and Legal Proceedings
Three men were arrested in connection with the incident:
- Wallisom Texeira Da Silva, 20, of Hyde Park
- Arnoldo Nogueira Filho, 19, of Marlborough
- Pedro Desouza-Passos, 27, of Rockland
All three were charged with possession of firearms. Texeira Da Silva was jailed without bond, while Nogueira and Desouza-Passos were kept on cash bail.
The investigation is ongoing, with police trying to piece together the events that led to the shooting. The criminal complaints against the three suspects did not include information concerning the vehicle stop, which a Southborough police sergeant carried out. It was noticed that the birthday celebrant was driving a New York-registered Nissan with a female passenger at the time of the stop.
Support for the Ygor’s Family
Ygor Correia’s family is seeking assistance to transport his body to Brazil for the wake and funeral. A GoFundMe campaign has been set up to help cover the expenses.
