On March 7, 2024, James Climer, 83, died peacefully at St Thomas Hospital in Murfreesboro, surrounded by his loved ones. Having lived in Rutherford County his entire life and devoted himself to his career in construction, he was well-liked locally.
Love For Racing
James Climer, who was often referred to as “The King,” had a genuine love for the thrilling sport of racing. He competed bravely throughout his life, making his mark at tracks like Riverview Speedway, Highland Rim Speedway, and Nashville Fairgrounds, to name a few. He was inducted into the Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway Hall of Fame in 2009, a fitting award given to him for his remarkable driving skills. James’s incredible winning streak—he had won 55 consecutive races—was what made him stand out. This extraordinary achievement established his reputation as “The King” of the racing circuit. Even though his earthly journey has come to an end, his spirit will always be remembered and race on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him as he makes his way to the hereafter.
Funeral Services
On Sunday, March 10, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, the family will meet friends and loved ones at the Jennings and Ayers Funeral Home. Then, on Monday, March 11, 2024, at 1:00 PM, an official chapel service will be held at Jennings and Ayers, with Thomas Allen Climer leading the service. The grandchildren will have the privilege of serving as pallbearers for the burial at Evergreen Cemetery.
